C. Edward Hoffler, Ph.D. M.D. is a board certified Orthopedic Surgeon specializing in the hand and upper extremity.
He received his orthopaedic training at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He practiced general orthopaedic surgery at a level 2 trauma center before returning to training and completing his fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Hoffler manages a wide spectrum of upper extremity problems including bony and soft tissue trauma, chronic deformity, nerve disorders, tendon disorders, jointinstability, arthritis and tumors of the upper extremity.
Dr. Hoffler earned a baccalaureate degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell University. He furthered his training in mechanical engineering with a Masters of Science degree and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan, while investigating bone micromechanics cell mechanotransduction, correlation theory and image analysis. He has research interests in radiation safety, upper extremity joint replacement, fracture healing biomechanics, image analysis, bone micromechanics and tissue engineering. More recently, he has been exploring large data analytics to evaluate clinical outcomes and improve patient care.
Dr. Hoffler is a clinical faculty member of Nova Southeastern University in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He has participated in grant review groups for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He serves as a consultant reviewer for hand and biomechanics journals. Dr. Hoffler has a passion for patient care and strives to treat his patients with the best of evidence based medicine and state-of-the-art techniques. He is an educator, but has never stopped being a student.
